The Ghost of Mumbai: When "Official" is Just a Font
A U.S. screening firm was delivering what they thought were "Gold Standard" reports from India. The wholesaler they used provided a "Local Police Certificate" that would make any compliance officer smile. It had the candidate’s name, the father’s name, a residential address, and a crisp official stamp.
The Signature of a Legend
The report was signed by the Assistant Director of the Mumbai City Police. It even included his direct title and a contact phone number for "verification."
To an untrained eye, it was bulletproof. But to a veteran U.S. court researcher, it smelled like a scam.
