Alberta More Than Doubles Court Search Fees
The Alberta government has hiked a raft of court fees — including more than doubling the cost to search public documents — with one advocate saying the increases imperil access to justice.
On May 12, a slew of fee increases went into effect for Alberta courts. They include additional costs for searching court records — to $25 from $10 — as well as for viewing files, obtaining courtroom audio and filing lawsuits and statements of defense.
